Pinie Wang, born in 1979 as Xueping WANG in Peking. She was 12 years old when she packed her suitcase full of Chinese music cassettes and left for Austria.
In her time in China, Pinie started learning traditional Chinese painting. At the age of 16 she went to Art School in Graz to study Graphic Design. Now Pinie is a graphic design freelancer and has worked for many interesting art or ad projects. Last year Pinie Wang was part of a duo who won the third prize of the category Cyber of the Young Creatives Austria 2007.
Pinie has begun working as a DJ three years ago, and ever since, she just can't imagine a life without this profession. Her style can be best described as Urban Electro Pop. She loves to play very unusual and rare electronic remixes of mainstream hits and mixes them with the latest electronic music. In Autumn 2007 she has formed the electro duo "Hoodies'n'Hood" together with Matt Modny.
At the end of 2007 the international museum of modern arts, MUMOK Vienna, invited Pinie Wang to make a compilation of contemporary Chinese electronic music, which has been released online on www.mumok.at
